Please note that optional excursions featured below are based on the 2009 tour season and are listed for guidance and budget purposes only and are subject to change without notice.

OPTIONAL SIGHTSEEING & EXCURSIONS

With Insight, you will enjoy many of Europe's famous highlights as included features on your tour - at no extra cost. However, there are an exciting array of additional excursions which are made available to help turn an already outstanding experience into a trip of a lifetime. These are entirely optional and offered to you at competitive prices. They are all bookable through your Tour Director at the commencement of your tour as many of them are planned to coincide with the best highlights available at the time of your visit.

The following list is a general selection as it would be impossible to operate all excursions on any one tour. This selection will vary due to seasonal conditions and museum opening days and times. Your Tour Director will give you a receipt once you have paid for your excursions. Payment can be made in cash or by Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Please note that credit/debit card payments can only be processed in Euros however cash can be taken in most major currencies and your Tour Director will be able to give you specific details of relevant exchange rates on commencement of your tour.

HOW TO BUDGET FOR OPTIONAL EXCURSIONS:

The final list of optional excursions to be offered during your tour by your Tour Director will be based on the descriptions and pricing featured in this leaflet. To help your pre tour budgeting we suggest you allow approximately € 45 per person per day for optional excursions.

Dinner in a typical Catalan restaurant, followed by an illuminated drive up to the hill of Montjuic for spectacular panoramic views and to see the lights sparkle over the Olympic City and harbour. € 47

NCE08 THE 3 CORNICHES, LA TURBIE & DINNER

This afternoon we take a scenic excursion along the Riviera of the Three Corniches Roads, enjoying spectacular views along perhaps the most beautiful coast in Europe. We reach the 'Grand Corniche' and stop at the village of 'La Turbie'. Admire a sweeping panorama over the Mediterranean and Monaco. We continue to our restaurant where we enjoy a dinner of local specialities from the French Riviera. (Drinks included). € 65

FL03 DINNER IN TUSCAN HILLS

In the hills surrounding Tuscany they produce the most famous of Italian wines, Chianti. We drive into these hills for an evening of Tuscan feasting and musical entertainment accompanied, of course by plentiful Chianti wine! € 57

FL09 SAN GIMIGNANO EXCURSION

A delightful excursion to Tuscany's most famous hilltop town. San Gimignano is considered the medieval Manhattan of Italy due to its towers which dominate the skyline. There's time to enjoy the atmosphere of this unchanged ancient jewel perfectly intact since the 14th century, which is a UNESCO Heritage town. € 31

FL01 'DAVID' & THE TREASURES OF FLORENCE

We visit the Academy of Fine Arts, housing the original 'David' and the Medici Chapel or the 'Opera del Duomo'. Our expert guide brings to life the story of Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo da Vinci and the famous Medici rulers of this unique city.€ 34

ROM21 POMPEII AND SORRENTO

We drive to the ancient ruins of Pompeii, excavated after being buried under the ash and pumice from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD. We have a guided tour of this Roman city preserved for over 2000 years. Later, we have a stop in magical Sorrento, before returning to Rome, passing the abbey of Monte Cassino.€ 95

VENICE

VCE 02 BURANO EXCURSION & LUNCH

Explore the Venetian lagoon on our cruise around the islands including the colourful island of Burano a photographers paradise and famous for its lace. Then enjoy a superb lunch sampling the local specialities. € 65

VCE06 MAGICAL VENICE

This evening we board our private boats for a tour down the famous 'Grand Canal', past illuminated palazzi and twinkling chandeliers, to the romantic St Mark's Square. We have reservations in a famous café where we sit under the stars listening to the orchestras play some of Italy's best loved music (One drink is included). € 43

VCE08 VENICE OF THE DOGES

Our private guided tour shows us first the glistening interior of the Basilica of San Marco with its extraordinary gold mosaics. Then to the Doge's Palace, symbol of Venetian power, with its State rooms and spectacular paintings. Then through to the Bridge of Sighs for a visit to the prison from which Casanova escaped! € 34

Drive deep into the National Park past farmhouses and picturesque villages to the ruins of Obersalzburg. From here, transfer to special motorcoaches adapted to the scenic mountain climb to Hilter's notorious 'Eagles Nest'. Tonight we shall enjoy a tasty Swiss meal (one of the courses will be the famous Swiss cheese fondue) in a typical restaurant.
