After a hearty breakfast, take a one hour drive (80 kms) to the northwestern part of the city. Visit Hellfire Pass Museum before embarking on a trek through the nearby canyon. A free audio guide is provided to help create the scene and to link the context and location with real life experiences narrated by POW’s while working on the line.
Lunch at local restaurant.
Option B
For those seeking a more active tour, you can opt to embark on a canoeing and biking excursion. Enjoy the beauty and scenery of the River Kwai by canoeing down the river. Under the supervision of an experienced instructor, paddle for two hours along the river. After a refreshment break, take a 10-km easy bike ride through the spectacular Kanchanaburi rainforest. Stops are made en route to visit a local school and temples or even the local villagers going about their daily tasks.
Lunch at local restaurant.
Option C
After breakfast, depart for Erawan Waterfall, a beautiful 7-tiered waterfall. Located in Erawan National Park, the best time to visit is during rainy season from May until September. To walk up to see each of the picturesque falls, it is best to bring good walking shoes. Also do remember to bring your swimming suit if you wish to swim in the fall’s natural pools. After visiting the falls, continue by car through the national park area to Phra That Cave. This large mountain cave is filled with stunning stalactites and stalagmites.
After lunch at a local restaurant, take a short train ride along the infamous ‘death railway’ through Kwai Noi gorge. Visit an elephant camp where you can experience an elephant ride through the jungle and alongside the Kwai Yai River. Afterwards, travel by bamboo raft along the river’s gently flowing waters before heading to your hotel.
