Bangkok – Khao Yai (L)
Escape from the chaotic capital city and take a journey back through time, Start with a short regional train ride to Chacherngsao – a lesser known historical town east of Bangkok. First stop at Wat Sothornwararam Worawiharn, a temple with a remarkably beautiful Italian marbled temple hall. Next take a boat trip on Bangprakong River to Talaat Baan Mai, a hundred-year-old market, and Wat Leng Hok Yee - a Chinese shrine with papier-mâche sculptures. Continue to Talaat Klong Suan, another 100-year old canal side market where you will be impressed to see the simple lifestyles of the local people. The canal’s old shop houses and stalls sell a variety of items including food, quaint old utensils and ancient tin toys. After touring the market, continue by car to Suan Khun Thor garden near Wang Nam Keaw where you will have the chance to meet a traditional medicine man. This respected local doctor, using time-honored techniques, will give you a traditional health check-up- a fascinating experience. (Note: doctor not available on Mondays).
