Itinerary
Day Itinerary
Day 1 Bangkok – Ampawa (L, D)

Drive south of Bangkok to the garden province of Samut Songhkhram in the Mae Klong river delta area. First visit a unique country market along the railway tracks. See the train arrive bringing the people to the market. Continue to Tha Kha market, one of the many floating markets where local people come together to sell their produce. Even if it is not a market day we will take a fascinating paddleboat journey through the waterways to visit a family that makes coconut sugar syrup at their teak house. After a glass of the sweet juice, take a boat ride through the maze of canals to take lunch at a local restaurant and then after the visit arrive at Chotika Riverfront resort and check in to your rooms. In the late afternoon take a ferry across the river to Ampawa Island and start a bicycle ride through the lychee plantations stopping to visit several very interesting temples.
After returning to your resort, take dinner at a nearby seafood restaurant before enjoying a stroll through Ampawa night market. Return to your resort in time for an optional boat ride along the river to see the fire flies (note: this is optional and not included in package price).
Overnight in Amphawa

Day 2 Ampawa - Bangkok (B, L)

Early morning, freshen up and ''make merit'' by giving some alms to the local Buddhist monks (by the river or in front of the resort depending on where you stay). Then take a boat ride through the canals to Damneon Saduak in neighboring Ratchaburi province to visit the busy floating market before the tourists buses arrive. Take a paddle boat through the busy canals as the traders prepare for the days business. Return to Amphawa by long-tail boat in time for lunch. In the afternoon visit Rama II Park, built to commemorate the "Poet King" and patron of the arts, where a group of typical Thai Houses have been converted to a museum. See an interesting collection of music instruments, beautiful masks and various household items used by the King as well as a statue of King Rama II and an exhibition of his works. Drive back to Bangkok.
